Some little things in life
Given little or no thought to
Offer calm to the soul
Now twisted and tainted by men’s greed
And the banality of evil
Not gold nor silver,
Visitors of season can buy
For they depart at will
Love, kindness and honesty
Peace and patience, the chief of all characters
Cost not a dime,
Sceptre, status or power they favour not
Yet the greatest wealth
Any man can attain
The little light in the dark
Ushering in the dawn of a new day
Pointing the way home
And will keep shinning
When man lives no more.
